Carey is a former top model in fashion who measured at 5'10", was popular with American fashion houses like Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren. Her father, a distinguished scientist who received the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists' 1979 Scientist of the Year award is an accomplished geologist. Carey was brought up throughout the world because of the work of her father. When she was attending in the University of Colorado at part-time, she caught the interest of the Ford model Agency representative in New York. She moved to France in 1980. She stayed briefly in Paris and Bordeaux prior to deciding to move back home to New York to continue with her education at college and build a modeling career. She soon began being featured on the cover of Vogue, Glamour, etc. Between her modelling assignments she also studied the study of literature at New York University. Then she became interested in acting and started training in the Neighborhood Playhouse of New York. She made her acting debut through a tiny character in 'Club Pardise" in 1986, starring Robin Williams. In her spare time, she enjoys skiing, wind surfing and rock climbing. She also enjoys white water white water rafting.
